In January 1991, Robert A. Tijan and Joseph E. Boxrucker formed North States Utility Contractors, Inc. combining technical skills and administrative knowledge. Bob Tijan brought twenty-three years of underground construction expertise to the company while Joe Boxrucker contributed a like number of years of administrative experience.

Eagle River, Wisconsin was chosen and remains the headquarters of this enterprise with satellite offices and shops in Wausau, Wisconsin and Pelican Lake, Wisconsin.

In January of 2001, Joe & Jason Boxrucker purchased Tijan’s 50% ownership of the company. With thirteen years of experience in the industry, Jason brought his knowledge and expertise of underground construction to the business. Also, at the time of exchange, a number of former employees returned to North States Utility Contractors bringing with them their wealth of experience.

Work ethics and concern for quality are the foundation upon which North States Utility Contractors, Inc. was built, and the philosophy still remains. All employees adhere to the company philosophy of quality underground construction work. North States Utility Contractors, Inc. has installed thousands of miles of underground electric cable and gas pipe. In the past four years, North States Utility Contractors, Inc. has branched out into installation of telephone and fiber optic networks. State-of-the-art equipment is used which provides cost efficient construction.

Over the years, North States Utility Contractors, Inc. has recognized the change in customer needs and has been an industry leader in North Central Wisconsin in altering it’s way of doing business to accommodate those needs. This open-minded policy has enabled North States Utility Contractors, Inc. to serve both utilities and their customers better. Experienced employees are capable of installing all underground needs from electric and gas distribution to telecommunications and Broadband. Extensive training courses are provided for foremen and employees to ensure the professional competence and quality of the North States team.
